Getting Started

Step 1: Register for a User Account

In the top right corner of this page above the search box, click Register and complete the form. You will receive an email with a link to confirm your registration. Ignore this step if you have already registered and have a user account..

Step 2: Obtain an API Key

You will need an API key to start using the API. Tell us about your application and/or how you plan to use the IEEE Xplore API and provide your organization's website URL. NOTE: Only one API key per application. API keys are issued during business hours (8am-5pm) Eastern time, Monday - Friday. Depending on the nature of your application, it may take longer to issue API keys.

Step 3: Review the Interactive Documentation

If you're not ready to create your own API queries, you can "test drive" the IEEE Xplore API with our Dynamic Query Tool. We will preload your API key so all you need to do is choose a call and click "Try It".
